On Tuesday the 11th of October 2016 our friends little boy Reuben Clark was diagnosed with High-Risk Neuroblastoma at 16 months old.

What is Neuroblastoma?

Neuroblastoma is a cancer of specialised nerve cells called neural crest cells. These cells are involved in the development of the nervous system and other tissues.

Neuroblastoma most commonly occurs in:
•either one of the two adrenal glands situated in the abdomen (tummy)
•nerve tissue that runs alongside the spinal cord, in the neck, chest, abdomen or pelvis.

The adrenal glands are specialised glands that are found above both kidneys. They normally release hormones to maintain blood pressure and help the body respond to stress.

Reubens cancer is mainly involving his kidney & the major vessels surrounding it, his16 month treatment plan so far has involved surgery, intense Chemotherapy & Radiotherapy (next step immunotherapy) which so far he has had a positive result but this type of cancer has a high relapse rate & currently treatment isn't available on the NHS so we would like to make things easier for his parents (Danielle & Wayne) by raising as much as we can.

We are a team of four friends (Emme, Chris, Fran & Martyn) and we are running the Great North Run in honour of little Reuben to help him fight this terrible disease.
