Story

One in two of us will develop cancer in our lifetime.

For some families, that statistic becomes reality far too soon.

We’ve lived both sides of it.

Matthew, Shane and Stephen lost their dad, Martin Dixon, to cancer.

Oran’s dad, Peter Hughes, is still bravely fighting it.

Cancer changes everything. It makes you feel powerless.

When someone you love is facing it, there is so little you can control.

You can’t fight it for them.

You can’t take away the fear.

You can’t stop the uncertainty.

So we’re doing the one thing we can.

We’ve created Endurance Against Cancer (EAC), pushing our bodies to the limit to raise money for Foyle Hospice and vital cancer care services that support families during the hardest moments of their lives.

These services rely heavily on charitable donations, and in recent years funding pressures have made that support more critical than ever. Hospice care provides dignity, compassion and stability when families need it most, and it simply cannot exist without community backing.

This is an equal effort.

Oran is running 108 miles in the Norn Iron 100.

Stephen is competing in ATHX in Dublin this May.

Matthew and Shane are running a marathon this May.

In November, Oran and Matthew will take on a full Ironman.

We’re being coached and mentored by Danny Quigley, who completed 10 Ironman-distance races in 10 consecutive days, proof of what endurance can achieve when driven by purpose.

Different challenges. One purpose.

We’re doing this in memory of Martin Dixon, in support of Peter Hughes, and for every family living through cancer right now.

We can’t control the disease.

But we can raise money.

And that’s what we’re choosing to do.

Every donation helps provide care, comfort and dignity when it matters most.

If you can give, thank you.

If you can share, it makes a difference.
