I've raised £1000 to Raise money to build a dormitory at a girls school in Malawi. The girls can stay at the school instead of walking and risking being raped.

Story

Malawi is located in South Eastern Africa and is also one of the most impoverished and least developed countries on earth. As a result of this many children, particularly girls, are deprived of the right to an education.

As someone who values their education and feels that every child in the world should be entitled to the same standard of schooling that children here in the UK receive, i will be traveling to Chihame II CDSS School in Malawi in July 2019.

The purpose of the trip will be to build a dormatory for the girls studying at the school. Most girls come from homes with no running water or electricity and face a walk to and from school each day, which is miles long and involves them facing many dangers, such as rape.

The build of the dormatory means that girls can have the opportunity to continue their schooling into higher education as with the chance of rape comes the chance of pregnancy and in a less economically developed country the chances that a girl would continue their education after giving birth is extremely slim and virtually none existant.

During my visit to Malawi i will also be taking resources such as text books and stationary to the children and teachers of the school. This is because theirs are largely out of date, meaning keeping the childrens education current and relevant to present world issues is hard. With new resources and the dormatory the standard of education in the school can increase and more girls will be better educated in Malawi; bettering the countries adult literacy rates and decreasing teen pregnancy rates, as well as birth rates. Whilst in Malawi i will also visit an orphanage and a womens aid project where my time and resources will also be well spent.

The money fundraised on this page will help support the build of the dornatory and will help fund the cost of the trip to Malawi, as well as the resources i will bring.

Any donations by any member of the public would be greatly appreciated, by not only me but also by the pupils and teachers at Chihame II CDSS School in Malawi.

Thank you for reading our story and for your kind donations.
