Story
The Epona Trust is a non-profit making organisation which specialises in the rehabilitation of horses and ponies from difficult and challenging backgrounds, which require dedicated individual care and attention. We are passionate about helping each horse reach the full potential that it possessed as a foal. The Epona Trust strives to re-establish the ancient bond between horses and people, by working in an ethical and holistic way, embracing new techniques whilst respecting traditional values.
The Epona Trust (based at Russells Equestrian Centre in West End, Southampton) is currently home to 12 rescue horses and ponies whose feed, bedding and hay bills alone average around £600 per week.
The Epona Trust is financed purely from our sponsorship scheme (which provides a regular income but doesn't cover all of our costs), donations and fund raising events. All donations, no matter how big or small, are always gratefully received and allow us to not only support our current herd, but also to rescue and rehabilitate more horses and ponies in need - like Willoughby pictured above (you can read his story here)
