We work with horses in Andalusia, Spain - see www.RidingAndalusia.com and www.PoloAndalusia.com - and since we currently have no clients, indeed we are currently confined to our apartment when not looking after our own breeding herd of twelve, we thought we should do something to help during this difficult time. We are not doctors or nurses, but one thing we can help with is the economic consequences of this virus, which are yet to be fully felt, which will lead many people in this area to cease to be able to feed and care for their animals, in particular their horses, donkeys and mules.

With this in mind, we want to set up a charity called Equine Orphans of the Coronavirus in Andalusia or EOCA. Our plan is to use the funds we raise to rent a piece of land to pasture as many 'equines' as we can in the immediate aftermath of the disease with a plan to rehoming them once things return to normal, even if that means giving the animals, and any residual funds, to another, larger charity. However, that is in the long term. In the short term, there are going to be a lot of animals going hungry and thirsty, especially as the land here changes to summer when there is no grass and little water. This Just Giving page is just the first step, after that - and once we are released from confinement by the Spanish government, the hard work will begin.
