I've raised £5000 to help fund 2 sensory rooms for 4 year old twins Ava and Matthew who are both Autistic.

My wife and I are blessed with two beautiful, intelligent and strong children who we would go to the ends of earth for and back again if we had to. Our twins are 4 years old and battle every single day with sensory regulation, understanding the world in which they live and being able to manoeuvre around this world safely. With a diagnosis of autism my wife and I were given some answers to the children’s unpredictable behaviour and slow development, however, we were also introduced to an unfamiliar world with limited information. However, we find ourselves in the position where we are aware of how we can make their home lives more comfortable and fun but are not in the financial position to be able to achieve this for them, which breaks our hearts that money is the answer. This is where we would like to ask for everyone’s help in order to raise the necessary money to create individual sensory rooms and a sensory garden which they can enjoy together without the constant threat that they will be overwhelmed by sudden noise, light and unexpected people. This is an idea we have been toying with for a long time but I was never keen on asking everyone else to help me with this, I should be able to provide what my children need. It took a lot for me to put this together understanding the kids need these rooms and areas in their life more than I need to provide it. With the inclusion of sensory equipment and special needs the cost of even the smallest piece pf equipment is high and the more you look into the specialist nature of this equipment the more it costs. Erica’s brother has seen how much of a challenge this has been for us and has, very kindly, agreed to run the Jedburgh Three Peaks 38 mile Trail Ultra Marathon, taking place on the 28th of October. We are very grateful for this huge superhuman effort from Chris in order to raise these funds and would be eternally grateful for any donation provided to help us and the kids along a little further on our journey. For Chris we wish you the best of luck in your challenge and have no doubt in our minds you will achieve this.
