Story

Well this is a massive step for me and also my wonderful little miracle, my mum.

On the 6th April 2018 my Mum Joanne had a life changing accident with a fall down the stairs (would you believe your life can change in a second). My mum suffered a broken neck which has left her paralysed from the chest down, along with several internal injuries. This has damaged her spinal cord at level c4 and has bravely suffered Hospital until this time.

My mum was in intensive care for 10 days and living 600 miles away was just heartbreaking. I was the one to get Mum through the worst 24 hours of her life when they said if it wasn’t for you I don’t think she’d be here today. After 15 days in Norfolk and Norwich Hospital she was transferred to Sheffeild spinal injuries unit which she’s still in today. After so many trips to visit Mum from inverness and many family and friends across the country visiting. We love you all. It’s really means the world.

But nhs is struggling and with this means alot of complications, rehabilitation, care, and her own wheelchair, which I know means a lot to her for her appearance and her self esteem.

I want to raise the money for her wheelchair, and private health care to get her home until care is put in place. This hasn’t been straight forward and I just want my Mum home nhs or not.

Me and my mum would appreciate any penny and pound it will mean the world to get Mum home and without the help of the nhs it’s the only way this is possible at this time.

I plan to do a skydive in spring next year to help raise awareness for spinal cord injury. It’s not talked about enough and the support is it’s not there for people who suffer a spinal cord injury, and I want to change that.

I want to thank everyone who has been there for me and my mum in the last 6 months you have kept us going in the darkest of times. But lifes for living each and every day and my mum got a second chance and i want to make it the best days of her life
