I've raised £100 to help Whipps Cross Hospital raise the profile of the complementary therapy that they offer to cancer patients.

On Monday 4 September, Eileen passed away peacefully after a 12 month battle with lung cancer.
Whilst it was a difficult period of time, the one thing she loved more than anything was the complementary therapy offered to her as part of a supportive care programme. She'd regularly tell us and anyone else she came into contact about the lovely hand and leg massages she'd had and how she was looking forward to the next session as the therapist Marissa was so lovely. She was perhaps most in her element when Marissa came to the ward having found out she was in hospital to give her a massage. She wasn't one to boast but she secretly loved knowing that the other patients were envious of her.
Eileen found it hard to believe that people like Marissa weren't being paid (even if it was part of an on-going training programme) or that she didn't have to pay for someone to make her feel better about herself knowing that she was living with cancer.
And so... having seen the joy that it gave her, we would like to give a donation to the team at Whipps Cross Hospital, to thank them for all they did for Eileen and help them to put a smile on many more faces, making people struggling with cancer to feel special even if it's for just a short time. Hopefully by donating money, we can also help to raise the profile of this fantastic service!!!
