Story

EDIT: Now that the sutuation is a little clearer i have increased our goal for this fundraiser - this summer needs to be a summer filled with adventures and a beautiful wedding between Erin & her soulmate Dan. we may not have much time but I really believe we can help make this summer everything that it needs to be 💜

EDIT: thank you so much to everyone rhat sponsored me in my half marathon. Sadly, just over 2 weeks later we are faced with the news that Erin’s cancer has spreas to her liver and is now terminal. Erin has so many decisions to make, so many things to worry about, please help me to help her not have to to worry about money during this time.

I wish this was just another one of my sponsorship requests for St Davids Hospice, I wish I was asking you for money to support the work of That Purple Place - but actually….. this time i’m running to raise money for something way closer to home and so unfair and cruel i can barely believe I am writing this at all.

in January 2020 many of you will remember that there was a caravan fire that tragically killed my stepson Alex’s littlest brother Zac, whilst his brother Harley was left fighting for his life in hospital.

The boys mum Erin amazed us all with her strength as she navigated her own grief, mourning the loss of a second child, having sadly lost Tyler 7 years before and whilst being a pillar of light to both Alex and Harley as they came to terms with their own loss during the isolation and lonliness of covid.

They say lightening never strikes in the same place twice but that sadly doesnt seem the case for this beautiful family and just 3 years on from the horror of the fire, tragedy strikes again as Erin has recently been dignosed with stage 3 Ampullary cancer. Surgery has been carried out to remove the tumour and a large area of tissue around it, however, results have shown that of 30 lymph nodes removed, there was cancer in 14 of them.

Erin has less than a month before she has to start intensive chemo which is going to be a long and challlenging treatment plan and a scary time for the whole family.

I feel utterly helpless, but while I cant take the cancer away, I can try and help Erin and the boys to have some magical memories between now and the start of treatment in June.

Next Sunday, 14th May I will be running the Snowdonia Half Marathon and I am using this challenge to raise money for Erin and the boys so that they can go away together and make some happy memories before treatment starts.

Please give generously, and please please share 💜
