Story

Two Skelmersdale Friends to Brave the UK Capitals in Wheelchairs Forbidden to Spend Even a Single Penny Relying Entirely on Human Kindness to Raise £20,000 for Local Causes

Carl “Men-Aces” Eaton and his lifelong friend Peter Walsh are about to embark on a journey that defies comfort, convenien

ce, and even basic survival. Armed with nothing but their wheelchairs, the clothes on their backs, and an unbreakable bond, the duo will leave Skelmersdale, travel across all four UK capitals—London, Cardiff, Belfast, and Edinburgh without spending a single penny. Not one coin. Not one note. No money allowed. Period.

No food.

No water.

No shelter.

No transport.

And absolutely no financial help.

Every mile they travel, every meal they eat, every roof they sleep under must come from the kindness of strangers. Their mission? To raise £20,000 for three vital local causes and to prove that compassion and community still exist in a world that often feels divided.

Carl, born with Spina Bifida and a right leg amputee, is the founder and manager of the Skem Men-Aces, a football club for people with disabilities. Alongside Peter—his best friend of over 50 years—they will set off from Skelmersdale on Monday, October 13th, Carl’s birthday, to begin a journey that will test their endurance, spirit, and faith in humanity.

Their route will take them to:

• London – visiting the Houses of Parliament

• Cardiff – meeting representatives at the Senedd

• Belfast – visiting Stormont, the Northern Ireland Assembly

• Edinburgh – reaching the Scottish Parliament and then back home to Skelmersdale.

From start to finish, they are strictly forbidden from spending any money whatsoever. This is not just a fundraiser it’s a raw, real, and radical challenge that shines a light on accessibility, inclusion, and the power of human kindness.

“We’re not allowed to spend a single penny not on food, not on water, not even on a bus fare. We’re putting our trust completely in the hands of strangers. It’s terrifying, but it’s also beautiful. We want to show the world that kindness still exists—and that disability

doesn’t define your limits.”
