Story
In June I will be running 93.09 miles. Why this number, you ask?
93.09 miles is equivalent to 22 yards (the length of a cricket pitch) for every run scored by Earl Stonham batsmen in 2019 (4887 runs) PLUS a mile for every year since the club reformed in 1988.
2020 has proven to be an unpredictable and unusual year. By now the cricket season would be well underway, teams would be devoting whole weekends to playing a much loved sport whilst proudly representing their teams, supported by families and friends. The Covid-19 pandemic hasn't yet allowed this to happen.
Unfortunately due to the nature of cricket, there are still costs to keep the ground match ready and the equipment needed working despite the season being on hold. Without the ability to play games, hold social events and open the pavilion bar post-match, the club is losing a significant amount of much needed money.
On a personal note, 2020 has also brought an unexpected diagnosis of Crohn's disease. I have relied heavily on the information and support from Crohn's and Colitis UK from what to expect during diagnosis, treatment and living with an incurable illness.
To counteract the negative aspects of the year so far, I have decided to do something positive and raise money for causes which brings positivity to other peoples' lives as well as my own. The money raised from this page will be split between ESCC and the Crohn's & Colitis UK charity.
