Story
On 16 May, some of us within the ESEA Sisters in Nature community will be taking on the Seven Sisters Challenge, covering over 22 kilometers within a day, from Seaford to Eastbourne, to raise funds for the East and South East Asian (ESEA) Community Centre’s Luncheon Club.
The Luncheon Club has been a staple of the community since 1985, cooking up healthy, flavourful, and affordable lunches.
Of course food is never *just* food - it provides a sense of stability and regularity, as well as creating opportunities for new connections.
These connections can be especially important for people who might be new to London, those who are in the process of learning English, and/or elders within our communities.
Unfortunately, the Luncheon Club has lost its key funding stream recently, and is only able to continue because of the heroic effort of a small team alongside a group of dedicated volunteers, that the service heavily relies on.
All the funds we raise will go directly to the Luncheon Club, contributing to the costs of ingredients, chefs and utilities.
The Luncheon Club provides over 8000 meals a year for our community, so even donating the price of a cup of coffee can go a long way!
