Story

On Saturday the 6th July I'll be running a Ramsay round; 24 Lochaber Munros in 56 miles to be completed under 24 hours. I'm hoping to go a good bit quicker than that, but this sort of distance is new to me so I'll see how I go!

I'll be starting at 3am on Saturday morning, you can track my progress here; http://live.opentracking.co.uk/ramsey19/?n=5

I'm raising money for two causes, and will split donations 50/50 between Friends of Banavie Park and Extinction Rebellion. Both are working hard to improve the future for the next generation, one at a very local level, one at a global level!

Our local playpark is in a wonderful spot next to Neptune's staircase on the Caledonian Canal but is dilapidated and threatened with closure. It's currently well used by both locals and visitors, and it would be tragic to see it go. Friends of Banavie park are raising money to get a new playground worthy of this fantastic venue and community. They are approaching a funding threshold that will allow them to apply for grants for the large sums required.

In the space of a few months Extinction Rebellion have changed the conversation on the Climate Crisis, prompting governments and councils to declare a climate emergency and set ambitious net-zero targets. But the work is only just starting, the science suggests we need to be both more ambitious and set in place policies that have a chance of fulfilling our ambitions. Donations to Extinction Rebellion will enable them to grow their movement of non-violent civil dissobedience in order to keep up the pressure on governments to take the climate crisis seriously.
