Story

One of our parents, Steve Furby, has very generously offered to raise money for us to buy books to support our curriculum to make it engaging and exciting for our children. Please see Steve's story below and support him in any way you can:

I have enjoyed running as a hobby on and off for a number of years, during this time I have completed five half marathons which were enjoyable but very exhausting. However after turning 40 last year I thought it would be a good time to set my sights on a bigger challenge as I have always aspired to run a full marathon. I recently ran the Race at the Base half marathon in Upper Heyford and I finally feel my fitness is now at a level where I can confidently (hopefully) take on this additional challenge.

I've entered the Manchester Marathon which will take place on the 10th October 2021. I have started my marathon training this week which gives me 12 weeks to get myself in shape and ready for the event. I've never undertaken a charity collection for the previous half marathons but given the magnitude of the challenge of a full marathon I thought it would be a good opportunity to raise money for a good cause like our local primary school, Chipping Warden Primary Academy. I feel the education of all children is very important and even more so with the time lost due to coronavirus over the last 18 months, both our daughters attend this school and my son before them. I feel it would be wonderful to give back to the school after the fantastic job they have done whilst navigating such a tricky time during Covid lockdown. I hope to raise £1,000 that can be used by the school to purchase books.

I would like to make a special thank you to:

Banbury Heating Supplies, Hawkins Group, Chipper Carpentry & Cherwell Electrical Supplies for generously pledging to donate £462 between them. These donations are in addition to the target set.
