Eternal Honour – Tribute to Fallen Heroes
69 Gurkha Field Squadron, The Queen’s Gurkha Engineer will be conducting an arduous physical event over a 20-day period in honour of the 456 British service personnel killed during the UK’s 20 year commitment in Afghanistan, whilst concurrently raising money for two fantastic charities that support serving and veteran members of the Corps of Royal Engineers and the Brigade of Gurkhas.
From 5th - 25th February 2025, three teams of 12 soldiers will run or tab (military route march) 12.7 km (7.9 miles) carrying 20 kg (44 lbs) each, collectively covering 456 km per day for 20 days. Each km covered will represent one of the fallen British service personnel killed with the 20 kg weight and 20 day period representing the 20 years of operations in Afghanistan.
Royal Engineers Association. The Royal Engineers Association (REA) provides, amongst other things, financial and other assistance to serving and former members of the Corps, their spouses, widows, widowers and dependants who are in need. They do this either directly or through grants to the Army Benevolent Fund and other service charities (such as SSAFA and the RBL) that further the objectives of the association. https://www.reahq.org.uk/
Brigade of Gurkhas Education and Welfare Fund. The Brigade of Gurkhas Education and Welfare Fund is used to support serving Gurkha soldiers, providing financial assistance for individuals, their spouses and dependants who are in need, hardship or distress.
Both of these charities have provided support numerous times for the personnel serving in 69 Gurkha Field Squadron and, more broadly, 36 Engineer Regiment and The Queen’s Gurkha Engineers.
Your support will help us make a real difference. Every donation, no matter the size, will help us support these vital charities while honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country.
Dherai Dhanyabad for your support.
