Story
Hello, my name is Ethan.
I have been selected to represent my Scout Troop at the 24th World Jamboree, West Virginia USA in July 2019.
I’m the first Scout to be selected from 3rd Molesey (Matravers) Scout Troop for over 30 years.
I’ve been part of 3rd Molesey since 2008 – I started as a Beaver and have gone all the way through to Explorers. I am also an active member of the band (some of you might have seen me)
I had to complete an application form, attend an interview in front of a panel of 5…. I’m only 14, which was a little scary and take part in a selection camp.
Selection camp was interesting – we were put in groups with scouts we didn’t know. We were all responsible for bringing certain equipment. Due another Scout forgetting the poles to the dining tent, I had to lash different poles together – luckily it worked.
I started the process of applying to be part of the jamboree in July last year. At the beginning of this year we had our first Jamboree troop meet up - we are Surrey Gryffins. I have already made some great friends through Surrey Gryffins, we are all looking forward to our adventure
To raise the money needed for my trip I am going to cycle, walk and row 108 miles – one mile for every month I have been in scouting.
To be chosen to represent 3rd Molesey is amazing - I am so privileged to have this opportunity.
Thank you for reading my post and helping me on my way.
