Story

Hi, we're Tilly and Connie, year 11 students from Leeds. In November this year we are travelling with our school, Abbey Grange Academy, to Ethiopia with the charity JeCCDO who help with development of hygiene, education and disaster risk reduction in the country. To do so, we need to raise £3000 between us to aid JeCCDO in their mission to help the community in Addis Ababa (the capital) and surrounding areas, and fund the trip in itself.

Following the introduction of community based childcare and support, JeCCDO has employed working with community based organisations as its prime strategy of community development since 2003. JeCCDO are improving knowledge and practice of hygiene and sanitation in the community. This is done through organising community conversation and organising public events. They also create access to clean drinking water and basic sanitation facilities, thus building public toilet services and water points for disadvantaged communities. The charity targets disadvantaged slum dwellers living in dilapidated houses and is intended to improve housing conditions of such families and lead decent life
