I plan on going to Cambodia with Project Trust, an overseas volunteering gap year organisation. I will be in Cambodia for an entire year from Aug/Sept 2018 to Aug/Sept 2019. During this year I will be teaching in an academic or social care position. I will be holding other fundraising activities to reach my final target of £6000. This money goes towards an insurance policy, travel, supervision, staff, administration and other support. This should have a long lasting effect on the community I work with and also myself. This experience will encourage me to personally reflect and develop and it will hopefully help other young people in the region to do likewise. It will also develop their basic understanding of academic subjects and will give them the opportunity to improve their overall quality of life.

I wish to go through this experience as I believe that the best way to improve is through challenging myself and exploring the potential that I have to offer, The Project Trust course will allow me to do this and also to give me the opportunity to build on my existing skills and develop new ones. The time spent away will help develop my independence and confidence in a variety of situations and scenarios. The experience will give me the chance to have a positive impact in my host community also in the wider world. While staying in my host country for an entire year I will learn about a new culture and a different way of life.
