Elementary school Marin Držić was founded on September 7., 1963. (it was called Elementary school Nikica Franić until 1992.). Two years later, the City of Dubrovnik has recognized the need to set up school departments for children with disabilities, which are then merged with Elementary school Marin Držić. To this day our school remains the only one in the county that has an organized department for children with disabilities, called School with special education program Marin Držić.
