We are raising £1,500 for Margam Football Club Inclusion Stags

July is Inclusion Awareness Month, and once again we’re taking on an incredible challenge to raise vital funds for Margam Football Club Inclusion Stags.

After battling the extreme heat during last year’s challenge, we’re back and pushing ourselves even further.

This year, Owen Midwinter, John Heycock, Tomas Midwinter, Jason “Big Middy” Midwinter (not so big now!) and Mark Thomas will be taking on the Lake District Ultra Marathon on 11th July 2026, covering distances of 100km, 55km and 23km.

It’s going to be physically and mentally demanding, but it is nothing compared to the challenges many of our players and their families face every single day.

Why we’re doing this

Margam Football Club Inclusion Stags is more than just a football team.

We provide children and young people with disabilities and additional needs the opportunity to enjoy football in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. Many of these children would never get the chance to play in a team, train regularly, compete in a league or experience tournaments without clubs like ours.

For our players, football is so much more than a game.

It builds confidence, friendships and self-belief. It teaches resilience, teamwork and communication. It helps them experience the joy of winning, learn how to cope with disappointment, and most importantly, gives them the chance to simply be children enjoying the sport they love alongside their teammates.

The impact doesn’t stop with the players.

Our club also creates a support network for parents and families. Many tell us that they’ve found lifelong friendships, people who understand the challenges they face, and a community where they feel welcomed, supported and never judged.

Inclusion Awareness Month

Our Inclusion Awareness Month begins on Saturday 4th July with our Rainbow Run at Margam Youth Centre. Everyone is welcome to come along, get involved and help us celebrate inclusion within our community.
