Story
Bernies Extra Triple Mile Challenge
This year I am running three ultra marathons in aid of three worthy charities, who carry out brilliant work in the Scottish Borders and beyond.
One of the charities supports families living with cancer, another charity supports families dealing with dementia. Both of these charities are close to my heart as my family have recieved support from these incredible charities.
The third charity is one set up locally in Hawick by a couple who tragically lost their son to a rare form of cancer. I have known the family for a very long time and would like to support the fantastic work they carry out helping other families with ill children.
The first of the three ultra marathons was ran on 26th February where I ran 35 miles from Alnwick to Bamburgh in a time of 6 hours 15 minutes and winning the over 55 category.
The 2nd marathon will be the most challenging, The St Cuthberts Way Ultra Marathon. A total of 62.5 miles to be competed in 19.5 hours.
The final marathon on 3rd September where I am running from St Mary’s Kirk in Hawick to St Mary’s Loch and back, 52 miles in total. This marathon is made special as for each mile which is being run I will run with someone different, ranging from a 6 year old to a 65 year old.
With your help I am aiming to raise a total of £2500. To split equally between the 3 charities, where the funds will go to support the vital work that they do helping families with cancer, dementia and families of children who are ill in hospital.
