    Story

    PROJECT RIGHT AWAY
    (PROJETO CAMINHO CERTO)
The project's aim is to work with children and teenagers growing up in Brazil who are exposed to drug dealing and need an incentive to not get involved in it,or any other trouble.
The project gives children and young adults the chance to get off the streets and start to learn Capoeira (Brazilian martial art) and (Samba dance) and how to play instruments whilst interacting with different people in a happy, comfortable environment.
There is a link between the local school and the project to ensure that children are attending school properly and to ensure they are doing their homework ,otherwise the children are not allowed to take any classes.
We want the kids to be in a more relaxed atmosphere so they can focus in getting a better education and to keep them away from drugs, alcohol, stealing, etc.
Their parents usually work all day long hours to make little money so they don’t really have time to help the kids with their education, and broken families are also a very common thing so children lack a role model to follow, getting to spend their spare time on the streets where they are usually up to no good and are an easy target for all sorts of troublemakers. Our ambition is to one day be able to buy some land and build a school of capoeira,so more free classes are available for these kids,as at the moment renting a place is the only option. The monthly fee for the classes is around £8 but most kids can’t afford it. This doesn’t mean that they can’t take the classes, but it makes it harder for the teachers who have to work longer hours in order to keep the school running, leaving them with less free time to teach at the capoeira school and this also has an impact in the number of students they can accept in the project. The money is used to help with the rent, to keep the place clean,to pay electric and water bills, buy some toiletries, help maintain the place in good condition (as the building is quite old
