Story
What do Emma Watson, Albert Einstein, and Roald Dahl have in common. They all have dyslexia.
Hi, my name is Evie and amongst many things, I am dyslexic. I am 10 (almost 11) and I was diagnosed when I was 6 years old. I feel really lucky to be recognised so early, as a dyslexic thinker. But some kids (or even adults) aren’t so lucky. This means that school can be a real struggle, which can also have a big impact on people’s confidence and futures.
Luckily there is an amazing charity called ‘Made By Dyslexia’ that provides lots of tools for parents, teachers and schools to nurture and support the brilliant minds of dyslexic thinkers. They helped me when I was diagnosed, and I want to do something to help others.
So, on the March 9th at 12pm, I am going to walk a 10km loop from Radnor Park along the River Thames. Before I set off, I will have a stand in Radnor Park with some fun games and activities to make as much noise as I am allowed to about Dyslexia.
With the money I raise, I am going to donate the brilliant book ‘Xtraordinary People’ written by the folks at Made By Dyslexia, to every school in the Borough of Richmond upon Thames, where I go to school (48 in total). I got the book when I was diagnosed, and it shares the amazing things people with dyslexia have achieved. I want all kids to understand that even though school can be hard, dyslexic thinking is a real superpower. Thanks for visiting my page – anything you can donate is going to make a difference.
Love Evie x
