Story

My name is Evie Thompson, and I am a physiotherapy student at the University of Winchester. I am currently coming to the end of my first six-week placement in paediatric physiotherapy at Xcel Health in Maidstone, where I have had the privilege of meeting an extraordinary young girl called Myah.

Myah has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a rare inherited genetic condition that causes progressive muscle weakness and wasting due to the loss of motor neurons in the spinal cord. Despite the challenges that come with her condition, Myah has shown incredible determination and resilience throughout her physiotherapy journey. She has worked so hard, and this year she achieved an amazing milestone and has started walking independently!

During my placement, I’ve seen first-hand just how much of a difference ongoing treatment, therapy and specialist equipment can make to a child’s development, independence and everyday life. I wanted to do something special to support Myah and her family, and hopefully make a positive difference to their lives.

I’m so excited to be taking on the challenge of a skydive to raise money for Myah and support such a special cause. I wanted to do something completely out of my comfort zone to help raise as much as possible for this amazing little girl and support her ongoing journey.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, would mean so much and help towards funding Myah’s ongoing treatment, therapy and specialist equipment. Your support will help give Myah the best possible opportunities to continue achieving her goals and reaching her full potential. Every single contribution really does make a difference, and I would be incredibly grateful for any support you’re able to give. 💗🪂

Thank you so much for taking the time to read Myah’s story and for supporting this cause that means so much to me. It genuinely means the world! 💕
