Story
My friends little girl is currently a patient on the heart ward, her name is Evie, she's 7 and the most amazing little girl. She was born with a complex congenital heart disease called hypo-plastic left heart syndrome and has been very unwell. From birth this little one has had a multitude of operations, she never left the hospital until she was 1 and was tube fed until she was 2, at the age of 3 she had reconstructive heart surgery which sadly didn't work and she was placed on the urgent transplant list for the first time. She was critically ill, suffering several strokes and 3 cardiac arrests. However she received the call 11 weeks later that gave her the gift of life. After the op it was touch and go, she needed dialysis due to kidney failure. Evie never gave up, she learned to walk and talk again and with sheer determination started main stream school. In October 2015 her new heart started to fail, she learned to take the 20 plus tablets now needed each day, again with no complaints. In June 2016 after a routine angiogram it was discovered she has a severe artery disease which is unique to transplant patients. Again this little girl started the journey towards transplant whilst still meeting school expectations. In June 2017 Evie started fitting, the hospital checked her heart and she was deemed to ill to go home, she is at risk of a imminent heart attack which she wont get any warning for as during her original transplant the nerves in her chest were cut. Evie is waiting to start all over again with another heart, she has been on the ward for 18 weeks waiting for her gift of life and will be in for many more months recovering.
Dawn is an amazing mother and friend, she cant work at the moment and has had her wage reduced to half, I want to raise some money to relieve any pressure she may feel, I have nothing but admiration for this woman, working full time to keep a beautiful home and being a single mother to 4 gorgeous kids. I don't want her to stress over finances, this is out of her control and I know how much she would love to have Evie home and be going to work. Being at the hospital is very expensive I know this from experience. If I can raise this money I know it will help. We successfully raised money for the children on the ward and I'm hoping as a community we can pull together and support this amazing family. I will be doing charity events and raffles to also add to this. Thank you <3
