Story
Hello, my name is Claire Birch. I am an ex-RAF navigator, soon to begin my training for my commercial pilot’s licence. Currently approximately 6% of the aviation industry is female and so in promotion of women in aviation I am undertaking a ‘round Britain’ tour in a light aircraft with another female pilot. The tour is being flown in memory of Evie Saunders, who was a remarkable female pilot and an inspiration to the following generations.
We are promoting the tour through a blog and social media channels and we already have generated interest in the tour from within the aviation industry. However, the financial implications of the tour are considerable and so in order for us to be able to take to the skies next week, we need to raise a fuel and accomodation fund of approximately £1500.
Any contributions our tour would be greatly appreciated as we do believe that we are generating interest for a worthy cause. We are not flying the tour for personal gain, but more to inspire other pilots and aspiring pilots to carry on the legacy of Evie Saunders and push their personal boundaries. To this end, any excess funds will be in turn used to help the next generation of female pilots achieve thier goals.
