Story

Hello! Many thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. In May, I'll be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon to help fund some of the fees for my participation in the National Youth Music Theatre's (NYMT) 2018 season. The fees cover accommodation, food, pastoral care, all tutoring and experience gained in rehearsal and performance.

I don't really know where to begin with my "story." To me, this all seems incredibly pretentious and I'd rather not have to do it; but it's a necessity - so, here's a brief explanation; what it is, why I'm doing it and hopefully why you'll help me out! Cheers.

In January I went along to Chetham's School of Music in Manchester to audition for the National Youth Music Theatre as an actor musician. It was a long shot - with nationwide auditions taking place and hundreds of young people auditioning. If nothing else, I thought, it was an experience. A week later, I got the news I'd been recalled for their new musical production of the classic children's novel, "A Little Princess," that's being performed at The Other Palace Theatre, London, in August! So, two weeks later, I headed down to London, for what was essentially a second audition. This time with the director, lyricist and composer of the production. A month since heading to the first Manchester auditions I got the news that I'd got the part. Belter.

So, why am I fundraising? Well, the cost to participate is enormous, well in excess of £1000. Money that I (sadly) do not have!! I hope to secure some funding help from College and my local youth theatre Centrestage too.

But don't worry, I don't have the cheek to just ask you for your money! Hehe! On Sunday 27th May, Dad and I will be running our second half marathon together in Edinburgh as my main fundraising event.

Any sponsorship you can donate really would be greatly appreciated - providing me with an opportunity I never thought I'd have, kickstarting a career as an actor musician and ultimately to perform on a West End stage.

Cheers,

Ewan
