    Story

    Who we are:

We are a Not for Profit organisation established as a C.I.C. (Community Interest Company) we have been set up by veterans, for the support of veterans and their communities.

Our definition of a veteran extends to those who have served within the uniformed public services. (Police, Fire, Ambulance, Coast Guard, NHS, HMPPS)

We aim to have positive impacts on:

Homelessness, Unemployment, benefit claimants, Education, Wellbeing, Criminal Justice System, Health, Economy, Social difficulties, the aged and the environment.

Our model has proven to work but we are in the early stages of developing and engaging on government contracts, the more support funds raised the more veterans we can employ. The more national our service.

We know the immediacy and need to react when support is asked for by those in difficulty, Our model allows ExFor+ to be able to provide fast and reactive support.

We also do not have the charitable exception.

    What is the Charitable exception?

    Why have we been setup?

We have been set up due to the difficulties that are often associated with the transition phase and individuals leaving a career within service.

Our aim is to become a national transitional employer of service leavers so that no other service leaver has to face the prospect of an uncertain future.

Our model has been working and we have supported a number of individuals into longterm and sustainable positions.

When an individual leaves service yes there are support structures / systems in place by way of the some 2237+ Armed Forces Charities, 3000+ civilian organisations that have set up specific support services, along with the 2000+ organisations that have signed up to the MoD's Armed Forces Covenant.

With all the support outlined above you will probably be asking why is there a need for another organisation?

well the easy answer is that there is to much duplication. to much confusion and to many individuals being unsupported.

There are also others who are also trying to look to take the lead by way of statutory and Local Authorities. This means that they wish to utilise Public funding meant for the benefit of all to develop specialist and priority support services and structures, that again is also aiding to the duplication within the sector as many initiatives are already in place and managed through different statutory contractors.

Veterans yes deserve the support of the public but not at the detriment of the public resources that are available, we want to work to make our country great, we want to work towards making our country the envy of the world once more.

As veterans we have passion and determination to see this happen and with the support of the UK Public, Government, Statutory organisations we can achieve great positive changes.

The reality is that having so many organisations vying for the top spot that will enable them to control the sector, many choose not to work with each other.

    The ExFor+ C.I.C. Ethos is:

    "Working Together, Enhancing Lives"

Reasoning for this is that for charities to survive and thrive, they have to have a Unique selling point to attract donations publicise their work and promote their objectives. The donations are what keeps the organisations going and the fight for these donations is often very fraught and difficult along with publicising veterans as individuals that are broken or dangerous in some way.

ExFor+ being staffed by veterans supporting veterans any support funding raised goes directly to veterans by way of employment or support as and when it is needed. Veterans yes do need support but they also need to find a further purpose when they leave service or they often feel lost and in a position that is less noteworthy and feel that they have lost their social standing.

As an organisation we want to provide a further purpose, we want to show veterans can do more when they leave service, we want to continue to serve our country. We can do this by providing employment working on national government contracts as a specialist subcontractor to aid the UK both Socially and Economically to generate an income. As a C.I.C. this income has to be returned to the community to provide betterment to those in difficulty.

    What does this mean?

What it means is that if you choose to support ExFor+ with funding, you are supporting veterans directly, aiding them into employment that is directed at making the UK better both socially and economically, this means that their is a return on your support funding as you will:

Be supporting a Veteran directly to change their and others lives

Be supporting that Veteran in longterm and supportive employment

Creating a single point of employment / contact for support to be administered through for mental and physical health.

Receive the betterment of the work undertaken both socially and economically

Reducing the costs and expenses that the government currently spends on benefits, Criminal Justice System, Housing etc

Making the UK a better place.

Creating a Force for Good through ExFor+

    Changing Mindsets:

Many individuals within the UK have seen Charity as the only way to create positive and longterm change.

Charities are only longterm if there is the desire for them to be supported on a longterm basis. A change is starting to be seen in the veteran support sector due to the fact that the UK is not at war and that the casualties of the recent conflicts are no longer heavily publicised through national media. What happens the support is restricted.

Charities do fantastic work, their is no denying this. However should charities be the only way to provide a positive outcome? Many freely give to charity because its title brings about that its is a good thing to do. Where does the charitable funding go once you have placed it in the pot? Many of the larger organisations publish their statistics and figures and from a regular yearly campaign £146m was raised in 2016, 51.4% of this went on welfare £75.4m now that is a lot of money, the rest went on communications and campaigns, membership and fundraising.

Well my question is what level of that funding hit the frontline to support veterans in positions of difficulty? I had two customers that I supported and both where in completely different circumstances and the response was "We do not provide money, we are not a charity bank" well that is OK, but these two that I supported off of the streets and in to employment received little or no support.

When they discuss Welfare they are most likely taking into account the large administrative support services that are needed where wages are paid and then frontline staff have to be volunteers or paid if they become management.

Ok This has now been said, What happens?

The above example is just one and can't be seen to be the norm throughout the sector as many do, do fantastic work with limited funding.

However, again if you choose to support ExFor+ C.I.C. we may not have the charitable gift aid but after taxes that are paid a minimum of the donation that directly help veterans would be 80% and with the other 20% it goes to the UK HMRC to pay for the taxes that fund the national statutory organisations; NHS, Police, CJS etc This means that upto 100% of your support funding is used to support the UK both socially and economically.

    Is ExFor+ C.I.C. Sustainable?

The simple answer to this is yes, we can not only accept support funding from the Public, Corporates, Grant funds, we can also work for the greater good by supporting national government contracts for payment of our service which means if we generate a significant surplus many of the social difficulties are in the process of being resolved.

If you would like to support ExFor+ C.I.C. please do feel free to help us to our target and beyond.

If everyone helps to support this initiative, it means that there will be less duplication and waste of money, funds go to supporting veterans who will be directly supported! this is fantastic!
