    Story

Our friend Jack wanted to ride coast to coast on his handcycle along the Hadrian's Wall Cycle Route. Unfortunately, he passed away before he was able to complete his ambition. We've borrowed Jack's handcycle so that we can complete this challenge for him. Starting in Silloth on the west coast, four handcyclists, supported by four non-disabled riders will complete the 113 mile journey, arriving in Whitley Bay on the east coast two days later.

As part of this memorial ride we're launching our fundraising effort to raise the money we need for a new van for Experience Community CIC, an organisation that helps disabled people access the countryside. The van is essential to transport the equipment we use so that we can help more people benefit from our work across the north of England.

With moving the C2C to October we’ve hit a lot of problems with accommodation availability and unfortunately we’ve run out of options before the nights start closing in towards the end of the month. Therefore, we’ve decided to postpone our C2C challenge ride until Friday 17th May - Monday 20th May 2019. We’re really disappointed to have to do this but we feel it’s the safest and most sensible option at this point. We can return sponsorship money but we hope you’ll consider sponsoring us again when we start our new fundraising appeal in 2019!

Hi Everyone, Due to unforeseen circumstances we have decided to postpone our Coast 2 Coast challenge until October as one of our hand cyclists was recently taken ill. Whilst they are on the mend, they will not be well enough to cycle this coming weekend and as a close friend of Jack’s, we feel it would be wrong for us to continue without them. We are very grateful for the support already shown for our cause and rest assured that we will definitely be tackling the ride in October for Jack.
