I've raised £1000 to help design & build a 'Pump Track'. From Friday June 19th 40 local children will be riding the Tour De France (3470km) in 10 days!

To raise money for the Eyam Pump Track, 40 children aged 5 to 18, from Eyam and Foolow with a few local friends intend to cycle the distance of this year’s Tour De France (3,470 km) in 10 days!
Th e children have been inspired by the fantastic efforts of the 32 children from the neighbouring village of Grindleford who cumulatively ran a total of 1,407km (the equivalent of John O’Groats to Lands End) in 9 days to raise funds for the Eyam Pump Track and Matlock Food Bank.
Unlike the pros these children (some as young as 5) will mostly be riding mountain bikes and will have to ride every day for 10 consecutive days over the hills of the Peak District to complete their challenge.
The childrens efforts are to help transform a plot of land that is over grown & waterlogged. It would be great to Improve the appearance of the plot & make a positive contribution to the community. The EPTC & it's many supporters believe a 'Pump Track' would be a fantastic facility for young local residents - it would promote outdoor activity - in particular a place for children to cycle away from the roads. It needs to be well designed (including improvements made to the drainage) & relatively easy to maintain & involve the youngsters in future improvement & development. We have so far raised (Our own MTB challenge event - 'The Red Rat Rampage' , a Lands end to John O'groats run & grant funding from Derbyshire County Council Action grant) around £14k of the £35k that will be needed to have it professionally built to ensure it is safe & continues to be used well into the future.
