I'm sure that you have heard of the critical drought conditions in Somalia either through your friends and families or through the current humanitarian appeals. However the news have reached you, the situation in Somalia is extremely critical and it is predicted that the situation will remain critical until April 2017. The Deyr rainy season which usually occurs between October and December is nowhere to be seen, instead the country has witnessed high temperatures. The extreme heat levels and the shortage of rain has had detrimental effects on the people of Somalia which has led to millions of people losing their crops and livestock. As many of you know crops and livestocks are the only means of income for most people in Somalia. As a result, this has led to more and more people being in need of basic food. Moreover, there is an extreme shortage of water which has seen water prices rise to unprecedented levels.
No one is able to predict when the situation will improve but we all have a choice to make a change, even if it is a very small change! I am therefore asking you all to help me raise £5,000 to assist those on the ground. This money will go to the British Red Cross who tirelessly continue to provide much needed humanitarian assistance to places many would not step a foot in.
