Story
Come join us on the evening of the 2018 Summer Solstice and you're guaranteed a memorable experience, as well as supporting the Fairways Centre.
The aim is to complete 108 Sun Salutations in one continuous sequence. This is no easy feat! But by taking part, and hopefully gaining sponsors from friends and family, you will be donating much-needed funds to help maintain and improve the facilities at Fairways. Thanks to Hayley Hudson for initiating this event.
108 Sun Salutes sounds like a lot, and it is! But there lots of options to choose from:
• 24 Salutes - £5 suggested donation
• 54 Salutes - £7.50 suggested donation
• 108 Salutes - £10 suggested donation
Having some prior experience and knowledge of this short sequence is recommended but guidance will be given at the event if needed, and most importantly the encouragement and support of everyone else taking part (with music to suit the mood!) Also, on this page we will be posting tips and tricks to help you learn the sequence as well as counting methods.
Its a fun and challenging experience!
We hope to include a crowdfunding website at JustGiving to provide an additional portal for sponsorship. Watch this space!
Please leave any questions below, or message Fairways Centre, House of Ashtanga, or contact @hayleyhudson

Sun Salutations, or Surya Namaskar, are traditionally performed in the morning to greet the new day. The sequence of postures can prepare you for a longer yoga practice. It is believed that the internal heat that you build during this practice is cleansing, detoxifying, and gets you more in touch with yourself.
108 has long been considered a sacred number in Hinduism and yoga and has many different meanings. Traditionally, malas, or garlands of prayer beads, come as a string of 108 beads. The practice of 108 Sun Salutations is usually carried out to mark the change of seasons but can be done at ANY time and with ANY frequency!
