Story

Based in Nairobi Kenya, Gertrude's Children's Hospital was founded in 1947. It currently has 100 beds and 16 outpatient centers offering a range of specialized services to children, including cancer.

In 2010, the hospital established Gertrude's Hospital Foundation, a charity that provides quality healthcare to the needy including vulnerable children who are located in hard-to-reach areas and to children’s homes in various parts of the country through several outreach programs. https://www.gerties.org/children-hospital-foundation/

I visited the hospital in February 2023 and heard about the Annual Charity Cancer Walk that raises funds to support early diagnosis and treatment for children from poor communities suffering from cancer. All the funds raised from this event go towards covering the cost of treatment and care for these vulnerable children.

When I got back to work the following week, I asked my colleagues if they wanted to join me in the fundraising walk and now the entire organisation of Wilton Park is coming together to support Gertrude's and the Charity Walk.

Wilton Park will be walking together on Sunday 21 May at it's base in Sussex, England. Please come and join us. https://www.wiltonpark.org.uk/
