In June this year, Joanne Price, mum to Noah who attends the Little Lane Nursery within the Daisy Room (Noah also has three older sisters – Georgia aged 16, Lara aged 14 and Evie aged 9), found a lump in her breast. As Joanne has a young cousin who had breast cancer last year, and lost her mother to breast cancer 17 years ago, she was quickly assessed at Peterborough City Hospital. After a biopsy in July, Joanne and her family received the devastating news that the lump was an aggressive breast cancer that needed immediate treatment.

In August, Joanne made the tough decision to have a double mastectomy to ensure that all cancerous and pre-cancerous cells were removed and reduce any further risk.

The double mastectomy was a success and showed that all cancerous cells had been removed, however to be certain she would need a course of chemotherapy.

Joanne is now half way through her chemotherapy, and she and her family are looking forward to December when her active treatment will be complete.

Understandably, this has been a very challenging time for the family, further compacted by the fact that both Joanne and her husband are self employed and with four children it has been difficult both emotionally and financially. Joanne and her family have blown us away with their positivity, determination and love during this time.

We want to be able to give the Price family the Christmas they all deserve after such a traumatic 2016, for them to not have to worry and to go into 2017 invigorated.

The Little Lane Nursery will be holding a fund raising week between 5th and 9th December – during this week we will be holding a raffle (with prizes being donated by local businesses), cake stall and fancy dress, with all the proceeds going to the family.
