    Story

Thomas Farmer was born to my 4xGreat Grandfather Benjamin Farmer, and was a Saddler and Police Constable in Brecon, Wales. In 1864 he lost his first son (aged 3) to a runaway cart - the family never recovered. While Benjamin and the rest of the family moved to Newport and Cardiff the following year, Thomas and his wife Margaret made the huge decision to emigrate to Australia and start a new life. They arrived there on the 27th August 1865 and eventually set up home in Adelaide where their family grew and most their descendants continue to live to this day. Sadly Thomas and his 2 sons Thomas William Farmer and Frederick Charles Farmer's final resting places are now under threat of re-use (the headstones will be removed and the grave redeveloped):-

    Plot C2950 containing:-
    Thomas Farmer
Margaret Farmer nee Weaver (Thomas's wife)
    Frederick Charles Farmer (Thomas's son)
Jeanette Lucy Farmer nee Higham (Frederick's wife and Bessie's daughter)

    Plot C2946 containing:-
    Thomas William Farmer (Thomas's son)
Bessie Farmer nee Hales (Thomas's Wife and mother of Jeanette Lucy)
Mary Hales nee Gribble (Bessie's mother)
    Norman Walter Dobinson (Bessie's Grandson)

It would be nice if we could rescue these graves and preserve them in memory of the people who came before us, and for future generations to be able to visit their ancestors who gave them the life they know today. To do this the family needs to renew the internment rights for another 25 years at a cost $2,875 per plot (about £1637) making a total of $5750 (£3273) for both plots. Any help in achieving this goal is very much appreciated by everyone in the Farmer family.

The Farmer Family tree has been an amazing achievement by Wayne Farmer. This in turn has led to this worthwhile campaign. As a related descendant I send my best wishes for a successful project.
