Story

About me

I have received a life-changing opportunity to fly to Thailand and eat, sleep and train at True 8 Muay Thai on the beautiful Thai island of Koh Samui in. To be presented with this chance is absolutely crazy and one that I am very lucky to be given the chance and very (very!) willing to take advantage of it.

I found Muay Thai 6 years ago and within that time have dedicated many hours to Muay Thai, whether that is in the form of blogging, writing and sharing videos/interviews and growing the Muay Thai awareness through my natural enthusiasm for media or through event promoting and working within the sport creating videos as paid work.

I have worked on some of the biggest events, wrote for Yokkao, interviewed elite level fighters and enjoyed every single moment of my time doing it. Not knowing where my path was leading to in Muay Thai, I have been following and carving a path blindly because I haven't ever had any real purpose or direction in the sport.

I changed my direction within Muay Thai and embarked on a very exciting journey that I called Fat Lad to Fighter. This saw me go from a fat, 98kg, depressed, unhappy and de-motivated person to a 72kg, much happier, more active, clearer thinking, positive person and try my hand at something crazy, like Thai boxing haha. Sharing all aspects of the journey, training, the ups and downs of camp, the fun days at events and the downs when the fighting element doesn’t go to plan.

Muay Thai is my life. Fat Lad to Fighter was designed to share the positive impacts of Muay Thai and how it can change peoples lives. While showing, first hand, the benefits it can have. Two years down the line, I have lost 25kg, fought 6 times (3W-3L) and grew a loyal community that help and support me in this amazing journey.

I wear my heart on my sleeve and lay everything out for people to see because my intention within the sport is genuine and I just want to spread the love of and learn as much Muay Thai as I possibly can.

I need your help

I received a message saying that I had won a sponsored place at a gym in Thailand to train there for 4 weeks! The issue for me in funding this trip. I have a full-time job so will have to take time out unpaid, I have to pay for my flights and cover expenses while I am out there for the 4 weeks living and training.

Using my platforms that I have grew and enjoy using I will use this opportunity to share as much of the experience to anyone and everyone who is willing to watch and listen. I really plan to embed myself in the life of a fighter and continue to develop my own skillset which I will inevitably be able to use both in the ring and in the gym passing on the knowledge to the next generation of Muay Thai practitioners.

Going to Thailand has always been a dream for me and now, thanks to True 8 Muay Thai on the amazing Thai island of Koh Samui, I have been given the incredible chance to live and train for 4 weeks as a sponsored fighter.

This is why I need your help. If I take 4 weeks off work, it will be unpaid, I don’t have capital available to pay for flights or anything else that would need supporting in my absence. I do believe that this is too good an opportunity to turn down, which has led me to here... Asking the wonderful world of the internet to help a Fat Lad make his dreams come true!
