My name is Fatha Mohamed. Acute malnutrition is projected to affect 1.4 million children in Somalia (UNICEF, 2019). As a Somali woman living in the UK, I am trying to raise funds for the suffering children of Somalia and want to offer aid and relief to those hit most hard. Severe acute malnutrition is an extreme form of hunger that makes people literally waste away and leaves children especially vulnerable to deadly diseases like cholera, measles and acute watery diarrhoea. Malnutrition in Somalia is complex and challenging. According to UNICEF more than 275,000 children have or will suffer life-threatening severe acute malnutrition in 2018.

One of the main causes of acute malnutrition is the the ongoing famine and catastrophic drought. Somalia has been enduring the worst drought in over half a century and it has affected almost half of the Somali population and vitally, their livestock. The situation is desperate. People mostly children are dying due to the lack of food, water and medical aid.

All funds raised will be going to a trusted account using Somalia's certified money transfer company, to help buy much needed basic food, water, medications and shelters. Trusted people in the ground in some of the most remote areas of Somalia will be distributing the aid.

I will personally ensure your money goes directly to the most needy areas and we will be asking trusted partners on the ground to film some of the aid distributions so that you can see how your donations are being used.
