Story
My name is Fatima Abacha, a Computer Science PhD student at the University of Manchester.
On 10th September 2024, my hometown Maiduguri in Nigeria, was struck by an unprecedented flood, the worst we’ve ever experienced. Many areas are submerged, and several of my family and friends are still awaiting rescue. Though my family is fortunate to have the resources to survive, countless others are not as lucky.
For some time now, we’ve been battling high inflation and soaring food prices, which have already stretched the community’s resources thin. This flood has worsened the situation, leaving many people displaced with nothing but the clothes they were wearing when they escaped. They urgently need help.
I am the chairperson of Abdullahi Haruna Sickle Cell Foundation (AHSCF) Board of Trustees, a non-profit NGO registered in Maiduguri, our volunteers are on the ground to assist.
Please join me in supporting the flood victims by donating and sharing this appeal with your family and friends. Your generosity can help ease the suffering of people who have lost everything in this disaster.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
