Story
help us rebuild our wall which unites instead of divides
We have lived next door to a home for people with learning disabilities for over 10 years. The residents next door spend hours talking with us over the wall between our gardens and visit for coffee several days a week. Staff and residents love our 16 year old cat Jonathon, who loves them, comes when they call him and spends as much time in their garden as ours. We love having them as neighbours but the wall between our gardens is falling down and the only funding is to replace it with a 6 foot fence. Our neighbours will be isolated in an enclosed garden. We will not be able to see them let alone talk. The frequent visits for fuss and cuddles from Jonathon will end, as hes too old to jump a fence, (main A road at front)
Its not just a wall.....
its not just beautuful, of hand made red bricks and has been standing for over 100 years, its important to us as it enables us to have a lovely neighbouly relationship with next door. Recently we had our house up for sale, several viewers were put off by living next door to a home, a disgusting but common prejudice. ..the wall has helped us get to know next door and we hope enriches their lives as it does ours.. Please help us contribute to funding so that instead of a big cheaper fence the wall can be rebuilt and we, and Jonathon can continue to enjoy what our neighbours give us.
Its not just a wall......
Its a symbol.....of how our lives have been enriched
please help us to rebuild the wall, so that it will stand promoting acceptance of our differences for another 100 years
