Story

Kitten season is well and truly in full swing. We have had multiple Mum’s and kittens being born already and we are only in April. Being a small, local rescue, with no funding, other than what we can fundraise, this puts a huge financial strain on us. Not only do these Mum’s and babies need food, litter, worming and flea treatments. They also all need neutering, microchipping and any further veterinary costs covering. We have already had Mum’s and kittens needing veterinary treatment for stomach upsets, eye issues and most recently a little Mum cat called Lola who has had a possible retained placenta. Lola’s vets bills alone have come to £612 so far, she also has further veterinary appointments booked in. This is an example of how, just one health issue in a cat, can completely deplete any raised funds.

We currently have 21 kittens in care and 7 Mum cats (not including any other rescues we have in care). To neuter all of these Mum's and babies, it is going to cost approx £2,260 and that is without the costs of microchipping, food, litter and additional veterinary treatment on top. We desperately need funds to continue to be able to help these cats in need and cover the cats we already have in rescue care.

Sadly we do not have National head offices to sending us a budget, large legacies from will donations or fundraising teams to rely upon to help with raising a much needed income. However, people in the local communities find themselves calling on the smaller rescues, like us, time and time again, to help get these animals rescued. We get tagged in multiple Facebook posts daily to help cats and kittens in need, we also receive multiple Facebook messages and emails daily... but without funding, it is impossible to continue rescuing these cats and kittens. We are all volunteers, we don’t take an income from the rescue and it is taken for granted that we have thousands of pounds sat in the bank to fund the rescue... sadly this is not the case. We are constantly fighting an uphill battle to keep the rescue afloat financially and we need as much support as possible.

We are hoping this fundraiser may help to at least cover some of the costs of kitten season. We have set the target at £5,000 which will at least cover the cost of the cats and kittens we have in care now. If by some miracle we can make more, we can increase the target... but we know even just getting the £5,000 is going to be a huge uphill struggle for us.

Please help us to continue the rescue of these little souls who are in desperate need of help. So many cats and kittens will sadly not make it this year and will pass away, due to a lack of space and funding. It is honestly heart breaking to watch the suffering and to have to turn these little souls away 💔

If you can spare any pennies and would like to donate, any amount, large or small, it really does make a difference and we would be so very grateful 🙏

Thank you in advance for your support and kindness. If you aren’t able to donate, even a share of the fundraiser will help us massively.

You are all amazing!

Love from all of the humans and kitties at H2H ❤️xxxx

P.S If anyone would like to set up your own fundraiser to raise funds and send us the donation directly, you can message the Hisses to Hope Facebook page and we can send you the account details ❤️
