Hi my name is Faye and I`m a paediatric oncology nurse.
I am going try and to raise some money for two charities that help the children i care for by making their experience more positive.

I am going to do four runs. The first on the 20th May which is a color obstacle run. The second is a 10 mile run on the 1st July. The third is a muddy run on the 22nd July. The fourth is a 10 mile run on the 9th September.

The first charity I want to raise money for is called Harvey`s gang. This charity offers children the opportunity to look around the pathology lab at their local hospital to see what happens to their blood. The children get lab coats and a goodie bag. We have had or first member of Harvey`s gang come to our lab and this experience was invaluable for this child and his family.

The second charity is called Beads of Courage. Children get a gorgeous bead every time they have some kind of treatment carried out. The beads they get are so lovely and are hand made by lovely bead makers. The children love collecting the beads and will focus on the bead they are getting rather than the treatment. For the parents it is a reflection of the child`s journey and what they are going and gone through.

When a child has cancer so much of their experience is scary and frightening and they are often in hospital. These two charities do something amazing and focus on giving the child something positive.
