I've raised £150000 to fund Faye’s urgent specialist cancer immunotherapy treatment in Germany for a rare soft tissue Sarcoma MPNST with lung metastases

Faye had been a Fitness Instructor for around 20 years and absolutely loved her job and was very passionate about it and taught in many fitness clubs around Leicestershire, but in 2019 she was diagnosed with a rare soft tissue sarcoma. Throughout the year she had been visiting her GP on many occasions complaining of pain in her right shoulder. She was told it was most likely a frozen shoulder. She had many physio sessions through the year and tried accupuncture and also had a Cortisone injection all to hopefully relieve the pain but unfortunately none of this helped.
Unable to sleep with the pain and was effecting her job as a fitness instructor, she was eventually sent for an X-ray which showed up an image that needed more investigation. After waiting several weeks after she had an MRI scan and found out in December 2019 she had a 6cm high grade aggressive tumour growing on one of the shoulders nerve sheaths - called a MPNST.
The tumour was removed in January 2020 and was carried out at the RNOH Stanmore London Hospital that specialise in Sarcomas. This was then followed by several rounds of heavy chemo - losing her lovely long blond hair, followed by six weeks of radiotherapy. After her treatment had finished Faye wanted to carry on working as a fitness instructor even though she had restricted movement with her right arm from the operation and was suffering from chronic pain.
At her routine chest X-ray this January, followed by a CT scan she was devastated it showed the cancer had metastasised to her lungs, very typical of agressive MPNST. More gruelling rounds of chemo followed but failed to have much effect. It had become chemo-resistant as is common with this rare type of cancer. There are no more treatment options left for her on the NHS, as two of the checkpoint inhibitor drugs that could potentially help her are not funded here for her sub- type of soft tissue sarcoma.
The only hope of extended survival for Faye comes from extensive Immunotherapy treatments at a specialist German Clinic who lead the research and cutting edge treatment in this field. Oncolytic Viral treatment to prime the immune system to produce killer cells that target the cancer cells followed by a Dendritic Cell Therapy personalised cancer vaccine which maximises your immune systems ability to recognise and destroy the specific cancer cells, without harming any normal cells.
Faye has started the treatment in Germany but due to her chemo failing to inhibit the lung metastases, will need several more rounds of this specialist treatment to give her the optimum chance of prolonged survival with a good quality of life.
She and her partner Chris have already spent most of their life savings on the initial rounds of Immunotherapy treatment, which is engineered in the lab using the patients own blood tumour antigens etc, so it is very expensive and can only be done in a few labs in Europe - fortunately the German clinic in question have their own lab set up specifically for this treatment, run by an eminent professor.
It is imperative that we now try to raise more funds to cover imminent ongoing cycles of this advanced treatment not yet available in the UK.
Please please donate whatever you can to help with funding this life saving treatment- also we thank you for sharing this to anyone you think can help with this x
