Story
To raise money for our club, members of the committee and players are walking the length of Hadrian’s Wall over 3 days in May. We will start in Bowness on-Solway early on the morning of Saturday 25th May, walking around 30 miles on the first and second days leaving us with around 24 miles for the last day, finishing at Wallsend. We are hoping to camp near the Mile Castle Fort on the first night and the second near Vallum farm on the Military Road (marked on the map as red starts). Usually, the walk is attempted over 4 days. However, as an additional challenge, we are proposing to do it over 3 in order to raise much needed funds for the football club. It costs over £6,500 per year simply to run the football club (which is the oldest Football Club in the North East) which is funded almost entirely by sponsorship and fundraising events. Like many clubs, we constantly face funding challenges, which are exacerbated by our rural location, and we are looking to build on our 4th place finish in the Northern Alliance Premier division (our highest finish for 40 years) and are on track to replicate this feat again this season. We hope this will be the largest fundraising event of the season which will give the club a strong platform to start the 2019/20 season and enable the club to make further investment in the facilities at Oakford Park. Any sponsorship/donation you would be willing to make in relation to this event would be much appreciated.
