Hi, I’m Perrin, I’m 14 years old, and this May half term I’m taking on a pretty big challenge — cycling all the way from my home in Braunton to Land’s End!

In October 2026 I will be going on a school trip to Uganda with a charity called Amigos. Amigos helps young people in Uganda to improve their life chances and lift them out of poverty www.amigos.org.uk. While there I will be helping in any way I can, for example, helping to build toilet blocks in schools, new classrooms or even teaching younger children in their classrooms.

I’ll be riding around 170 miles over a 5 or 6 days, tackling some tough hills, (probably some strong winds and rain!), and a lot of time on the bike. It’s definitely going to be a challenge, but I wanted to do something that really pushes me out of my comfort zone. While I’ll be on my bike for this journey, many young people in Uganda regularly walk long distances every day just to get to school — something that really inspired me to take on this challenge.

There will probably be moments when my legs feel like giving up, but knowing that I’m doing this to support others will keep me going.
