Weʼre raising £500 to support The Dovzhenko Centre's film archive preservation fund and World Central Kitchen's work in Ukraine.
Don't have time to donate right now?
'Feast From The East' is a film programme curated by Kateryna Pavlyuk for the ICO’s Cinema of Ideas - in partnership with the Ukrainian Institute, London - celebrating the food, feasts and famously fertile soil of Eastern Europe. Screening both iconic Soviet-era classics, including Oleksandr Dovzhenko's 'Earth', and films long lost to censorship, such as Mykola Shpykovskyi's 'Bread', this online season serves up films, discussion and cookery in support of Ukraine.
Tickets for the programme are free, but donations from audiences and the general public to this fund are invited and encouraged. The fund will be split evenly between two fundraising campaigns in support of Ukraine:
The Dovzhenko Centre
Ukraine’s leading film institution, holding the largest Ukrainian film archive, with a collection including 7000 films and thousands of archival records. Dedicated to the research, promotion, preservation and distribution of the nation’s film legacy, the Centre is both physically and culturally a landmark institution in Ukraine.
The precious works housed by The Dovzhenko Centre in Kyiv are under sustained threat during the ongoing war, and the Centre is raising crucial funds to protect and preserve Ukraine’s invaluable archive and national film heritage. Countless films that testify to Ukraine’s rich cinematic history remain lost; supporting this fundraiser will help to ensure no films now found and under the care of the Dovzhenko Centre risk being lost again, or destroyed.
World Central Kitchen
Ukrainians across the country, and those forced to travel beyond its borders, are faced with precariously low, or no, food supplies. Many are going for days without food. The war has also severely disrupted the flow of food supplies at ports and borders, further cutting off access to food, nationwide and internationally.
World Central Kitchen’s relief team are working around the clock and across the region, both in Ukraine and neighbouring countries, to distribute food supplies and serve fresh meals to Ukrainians who are displaced, or unable to access or purchase food. Donations to their relief efforts will allow the WCK team to continue their critical work feeding and supporting Ukrainians as war tears apart not just their kitchens, but their entire livelihoods.
