I've raised £650 to Felicity's Mercy Ship Appeal

I will be volunteering on the Africa Mercy the world's largest non-governmental hospital ship that provides free medical care to some of the world's poorest people. The ship has 6 operating theatres, a CT Scanner and 4 wards, 65 beds and an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on-board.
In October 2019 I will be off to Dakar, Senegal for 2 weeks as an anaesthetist. This involves being able to give a safe anaesthetic using the resources available and caring for the sickest adults and children in ICU. I will also be involved with teaching and supporting junior anaesthetists.
It has been a dream of mine to serve with Mercy Ship and use my skills to help provide life changing operations to adults and children where they wouldn't normally have access to such healthcare. There is a wide variety of surgical and medical conditions I will encounter and in the operating theatre maxfax, ENT, orthopaedics, general surgery and plastics will predominate as well as taking care of patients in ICU.
To give treatment free of charge the ship relies on monetary donations and people volunteering their time and expertise. I am raising money to help provide anaesthetic services for more life changing operations and buy teaching materials to help the education of local health professionals.
