Weʼve raised £310 to put on Festability - an accessible music festival for all.
- Quex Park, Kent
- Funded on Tuesday, 31st October 2017
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
We are a group of parents of disabled children and adults who saw a video shared on the BBC and thought “oh we really need to do that here in Kent”.
We were totally overwhelmed by the interest expressed and the offers of support received once we mentioned it to a few people and quickly we decided we had to get this off the ground because the demand was huge so we are putting on a Music Festival for people with disabilities living in Kent.
We aim for it to be as close to other Music Festivals as possible, but with some additional elements that will help make it more suitable and be fully inclusive to all.
Mainstream festivals are often too noisy and very crowded. You need space to just be yourself and have fun, without worrying about what others might consider anti-social. At a supported event no-one bats an eyelid.
Many families with a disabled member feel a day out is impossible or 'not for them' but the little extras that we provide help make it more achievable. While mainstream events are great, we sometimes feel more relaxed when disability is the rule rather than the exception.
Festability will include a quiet/chill zone with sensory lights and sounds, a changing places suite, qualified staff to help assist and a karaoke tent!
The event will take place in May 2018, and we need to raise as much money as possible to pay for the essentials such as a portable changing places and of course some fantastic musicians!
Anything you can give really does make a huge difference to the lives of disabled children and young people and their families. Thank you!

I'm Claire, fundraising coordinator for Festability. This is a cause close to my heart as I already work closely with children with disabilities. An event like this will help them to feel included and will make such a difference to their lives. Thanks for your support!
