Story

This Christmas, I'm challenging myself to wear a different Festive 'Fit to work each day, which you can follow along with on our social media channels, to raise awareness and funds which enable Wiltshire Digital Drive to continue supporting the local community with free access to laptops, tablets and computers.

The Covid-19 Pandemic shone a spotlight on the impact the digital divide has on people, however the problem began long before lockdown, and continues to impact those worst affected by the cost of living crisis today.

Access to a laptop can enable students to achieve better grades in education, which can change the course of their lives, opening up new opportunities for them. As well as this, access to technology can enable people to update their CVs, apply to jobs, complete training courses and learn new skills, as well as applying for benefits and managing their finances, all of which are becoming increasingly dependent on being able to get online.

Most recently, the war in Ukraine has forced families to leave their homes and move overseas, where accessing a laptop can help with learning a new language and keeping up to date with the support available from the government, helping those who are starting over in an unfamiliar place to resettle and build a life for themselves within our community.

Your donations help us to securely wipe, update, and refurbish more devices that will go directly to young people or families in need in Wiltshire, so if you're able to donate any amount, it is greatly appreciated!

As I mentioned, you can keep up with my progress through the month across our socials, which we encourage you to follow to stay up to date with our activities over the giving period and into the new year!
