Christmas Hope for Youngsters from care

No one should be alone at Christmas; it's something very close to our heart and we're passionate about helping make a difference, even if just for one day.

For the first time in three years, a remarkable group of young adults and teenagers from care across Derbyshire and Staffordshire will finally be reunited this Christmas. And with your support we want to make this Christmas really special.

These youngsters have been brought up in care having already endured terrible childhoods, now have to fend for themselves in bedsits or in sheltered accommodation. Through NO fault of their own, these amazing young adults find themselves deemed by the system, able to care for themselves! A hugely daunting prospect for anyone let alone a 16 or 17 year old with very little in the way of family or friend support. The impact of this hardship on their mental health is reflected in their struggles with isolation and loneliness.

This year we will be treating them to a proper Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and entertainment to really deliver that festive spirit and make them realise just how important they truly are. We’ll also be providing them with a gift hamper to take home and also for those that can’t attend.

And this is where the wonderful care teams, who always go above and beyond their role to help make a difference for these inspirational youngsters will again be joining forces with Santa’s Elves (our wonderful volunteers) to help put a smile on each and every youngsters face.
