Ceredigion Coast Challenge
On 30th June - 1st July 2023 a group of us will be taking on the challenge of walking the entire 60 miles of Ceredigion Coastal Path within 24 hours. We will be starting in Cardigan at 2pm on Friday 30th June and finishing at Ynyslas by no later than 2pm Saturday 1st July.
The aim is to raise at least £5000 for the acute stroke unit at Bronglais Hospital’s Ystwyth Ward in order to buy equipment which will enhance the rehabilitation opportunities available to patients on the ward.
On a personal note, we are taking on this challenge as a way of showing our appreciation to the entire team on Ystwyth ward for the ongoing care and rehabilitation my dad continues to receive after suffering a major haemorrhagic stroke at home in November 2022. He has since spent over 6 months on Ystwyth and every member of staff on the ward itself, the physios, OTs, and speech and language teams have provided excellent care with the facilities they have available to them however we want to ensure that future patients have access to even greater rehabilitation opportunities.
100,000 people have strokes each year, and there are 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK. Rehabilitation opportunities are key for stroke survivors, to help them make the best recovery possible and to re-learn skills for everyday life.
We genuinely appreciate any donation you can make, no matter how big or small. Your contribution will go a long way in helping us achieve our goal of raising as much money as possible for Ystwyth ward.
